US Lettuce Supply Contaminated

Dr. Mercola posts that the US lettuce supply is contaminated with rocket fuel and notes that this affects any lettuce that is irrigated with Colorado river water, including organic lettuce. In fact, the worst affected lettuce was organic baby greens which tested perchlorate at 121 ppb (parts per billion). The EPA's highest recommended level is only 1 ppb!

Perchlorate is a thyroid toxin and the main ingredient in missle and rocket fuel. The Environmental Working Group has more information.

Tom has talked to our supplier and we're doing everything possible to ensure that our winter lettuce does not come from the Imperial Valley, where the problem has been detected.

However, the overall problem of creating an unsafe environment for human health is a problem for all of us. Whether it be toxic rocket fuel or pesticide residue in our food, dioxin in our drinking water, fossil fuel pollution in our air, or the completely unknown and unpredictable affects of genetically modified agriculture, we've got a large scale problem.
